English, Spanish, And General Academic Tutoring
About
I'm a high school junior, but I'm passionate about academics and helping students meet their goals. My youth helps me to relate to students close to my age and meet them at their level with innovative and creative lesson plans! I'm a fluent Spanish speaker and have been a private Spanish tutor for over two years, working with students ages 7-70. I'm in the IB program at McCaskey High School and I have a 4.8 GPA. I'm the Editor in Chief of the school newspaper, captain of the mock trial team, and an intern at a local law firm. I've won multiple awards for my writing, including one in an international New York Times contest. I love learning and helping others find their love for learning with unique approaches tailored to each student!
I love helping students find their passion for learning! My dad was a philosophy professor, and he helped me discover the joys of learning free from external factors. Our public education system is so standardized, and the focus on college applications so consuming, that it often inhibits students' natural desire to learn. But I'm deeply passionate about developing students' academic abilities!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
At first, I determine whether students are visual, auditory, or tactile learners, and tailor lessons to their preferences. I also help them find their passion for learning by incorporating their interests. For example, if a student is convinced they "hate" writing but they love sports, I would teach them to improve their academic writing by writing about sports. Fun games and creative activities are also great ways to engage students! Valuing each student and recognizing their immense capacity for learning, instead of condescending to them or shoving information in their face, is an important way to enable students to reach their potential.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I generally charge between $12-$20 an hour, with a free trial lesson to determine if we're a good fit.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching during my freshman year of high school, after I tested in AP Spanish Literature and AP English Language and was looking for ways to help others develop those skills.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with everyone from elementary schoolers and septuagenarians! When I taught Spanish, I helped young children learn the language through conversation, songs, and games, while I used more complex conversation and reading and writing activities for middle and high school students and adults. When learning new languages, I believe listening and speaking practice is not only more important than reading and writing, but a more effective and engaging teaching strategy for achieving fluency.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise a student to look for someone they can relate to and connect with on a personal level. An older, very experienced teacher sounds appealing on paper, but an academically excellent teenage tutor is better suited to your needs and more likely to provide a fun, engaging experience. Learning should always be more about passion and personal growth than external validation (although achievement is always a great motivator!) and I bring that philosophy to my tutoring work.
