About

Hello. My name is Taylor Stuckey, and I am currently working towards earning my Bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in writing. Previously, I tutored English essay writing online for another company for four months. And while I loved it and excelled at my job, I decided to leave because I did not agree with the company's practices. I am able to work with people from all backgrounds/skill levels to help them improve their writing skills, whether they be essay writing skills or creative writing skills (fiction and poetry are my specialities). In addition to this, I can also assist people at any point in the writing process. Whether you have a rough draft written for an essay that you would like proofread or are still in the brainstorming phase, I can work with you and get you one step closer to having an end product that will make you proud. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. I'll answer them as soon as I can.

Frequently asked questions

First, I will typically start out by laying the groundwork and determining whether their tutoring needs are short term or long term. So, for instance, do they just need help with writing an essay, or will they be coming back for my services multiple times as to improve their writing skills in the long run? Then, once I start working with them on the specific assignment/project they need help with, I will assess where they are writing wise as well as identify weak spots in their writing to work on.

As I mentioned earlier, I previously tutored English essay writing online for another company for four months, and I am currently working on completing my Bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in writing.

I have a flat rate of $40 per hour that I charge for my lessons as that as how long the average tutoring session is. But if you have a question that only takes half an hour for me to help you out on, then you'll only owe $20. Likewise, a 45 minute session will be $30, and so on. I charge fairly for the amount of time I actually spent tutoring you.

In my last tutoring job, I worked with people in 6th grade all the way through college. That being said, I can help you improve your writing skills no matter how old you are or what your skill level is.

If you are looking to hire an English teacher with a concentration in writing, I would definitely recommend that you ask them for a writing sample before you work with them (i.e. perhaps an excerpt from an essay they've written). If you can pick up on issues in their writing, chances are they will be of no use to you in making you a better writer.

1). Are my tutoring needs short term or long term?

In other words, you should identify whether you need the tutor's assistance for just one project/assignment, or if you have goals for yourself that reach beyond whatever your current project is. This will help your tutor determine an approximation of how long they will be working with you as well as how in-depth they should go into teaching you about certain things.

2). What am I struggling with the most?

or

What do I need the most from my tutor?

As a tutor, it's a bit frustrating to work with a student who doesn't know exactly what they need help with as we don't know where to begin. Pinpointing major areas of concern before speaking with your tutor is a great way to prevent this. Or, if you don't have any major areas of concern, identify what you want to get out of your tutoring session. Do you just want to talk through the assignment and make sure you did it correctly? Do you want your tutor to proofread your work? If you know this ahead of time, you'll make better use of your tutoring session.
