A Helping Hand
About
I am a college student with a 3.90 GPA, with excellent, diverse skills in mathematics, English and science. I am a biochemistry major, but have been at the top of my class in all English courses up to English Composition II and all math courses up to Calculus II. Along with my deep understanding of the material, I have a lot of experience tutoring and communicate with students well. I translate difficult material into smaller, more basic steps to make learning easier for students.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I like to evaluate where they are in their material and set a goal that they would like to progress to. I also like to get an understanding of how their current teacher is presenting/teaching their material and determine why this method isn't effective for the student. After observing their current situation in their class, I can create a plan for this student to teach them the material in a more effective way while getting them caught up to their classmates.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 54 college credits of varying classes as a biochemistry major. I have a 3.90 GPA and have taken up to English Composition II, Calculus II, and Chemistry II, Biology, Physics and Organic Chemistry II with nearly all As.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Prices may vary depending on the student, but generally $20 an hour is what I charge on average.
How did you get started teaching?
Both of my parents are educators, so I already had an understanding of how to communicate with students and break down material. I started by helping friends of friends and family members who had heard from my parents that I was looking to start tutoring. From there, the recommendations spread and I ended up tutoring various students frequently.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from kindergarten to college. Some had ADHD and dyslexia, some were simply less strong in certain subjects, but I maintain the belief that all students are equally capable of success and some may just not have encountered the right learning methods and tools yet.
