About

Hello, I'm Sam, owner of Imagination Prep Tutoring! I graduated from Rowan University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and history. I've been teaching at a small charter school in Camden, NJ, for two years. In that role, I've worked with students from both ends of the learning spectrum, from struggling students who need more support to students who require additional challenges.

I believe that every student can learn and grow if given proper support. I have seen the difference one-on-one instruction can make for a student and I am committed to helping them reach their academic potential.

    Frequently asked questions

I begin working with a new student by holding an introductory meeting to get to know the student, their interests, and their particular areas of struggle. This helps the student feel more comfortable and provides me with information to tailor lessons to the student's specific needs. I then share my recommendations for the next steps with the student and their parents/guardians, and we create a learning plan based on their needs.

I graduated from Rowan University with a 3.95 GPA, earning a B.A. in elementary education and history. I also have a minor in international studies. I have been teaching for two years at Hope Community Charter School in Camden, NJ. I have experience teaching both fifth and second grade, as well as providing after-school tutoring.

I charge $25 for hour-long sessions. For sessions lasting 30 minutes, I charge $15. However, I am willing to negotiate for families who need financial assistance, as I don't believe income should be a barrier to receiving a quality education.

I have always known I was meant to be a teacher. I've never seen myself doing anything else. Helping students learn and grow academically and personally has always been my passion.

I have had the opportunity to work with students from different backgrounds as part of my educator preparation program and work in Camden. I have experience teaching students with a wide array of challenges, including English language learners, students who struggle with mental health, and students with learning disabilities. I also completed my student teaching and am currently employed at an urban charter school. I have worked with students of varying ability levels, ranging from several grades below grade level to a grade above.
