About
I am Alex, a junior at Portland State University. I am studying economics and history, also likely to take a minor in conflict resolution, which keeps me pretty busy. I would like to keep studying, possibly going for a teaching degree and becoming a history professor. I also want to promote peace globally, hence the conflict resolution. I am always eager to share my knowledge and to learn from others!
I have a lot of experience tutoring on a private level, starting from teaching my classmates in high school. I generally worked by word of mouth, but being new to the city I had to use a different approach. I enjoy teaching which makes it super worth while for me, it's a great feeling to see when the student is really understanding a concept that they previously struggled with. Looking forward to helping students in Portland!
One on one tutoring is a really great way to achieve clarity in a way that is just not possible in today's classes of 20+ students. I teach the way I always like to be taught, which is very hands on and interactive. At the same time, I like to be there to help, not to take over an assignment and do it for you, so I will generally let my students work through their assignments by themselves and I will be there to help them when necessary.
