About

Outside of extra practice problems and fun explanations, I offer habit change, empowerment and support to my students. I believe that a large part of student success lies in organization and prioritization, dedicating your attention to the most pertinent thing each day.

I love connecting with people and their families. I love showing people that learning can be fun and exciting and how capable they are. I have struggled myself in the traditional educational system, where things have not been explained well and we've moved on before I had the opportunity to catch up. I love finding the students who are struggling and let them know that they are not alone, and watching everything click when it's explained in a way they understand.

    Frequently asked questions

My tutoring style encompasses learning how to implement habits that will lead us to our goals. For each student I strongly encourage being connected with their teacher and home support to know what resources they have available to them, how they have been getting taught, and to align everyone's expectations, overall and for each week. I am a big believer in conceptual understanding, organization, repetition and applying new information in different ways (I like props and real-life examples).

During our first session, we will identify our goals, resources, current material, current hurdles and devise a plan.

For each subsequent session, I will: send outlines for the day with a breakdown of our goals and how we are getting there, create personalized handouts for the current content, provide practice problems, and a report after each session. I will work with your child to devise a plan for work outside of our session as well and will monitor success and troubleshoot problems as they arise. Together, we will navigate your at-home learning!

I’ve been tutoring for the last 8 years and have a Biology and Biochemistry degree. I was a medical student who left medical school to pursue a passion in education!

Session rate is $25/hour + $0.50/mile for meeting in person. I am also available for online sessions at $25/hour.

I began tutoring friends that were struggling in Calculus and Chemistry over the summers in college. I then began to work with different after school programs and started working for a tutoring company upon graduating with my undergraduate degree before entering into medical school. Since leaving medical school I've taken on clients online and in-person utilizing different platforms and my own online marketing.

I've worked with students in first grade to 400-level undergraduate courses. I've worked with students who were struggling passing multiple classes as well as students who just wanted to maintain their 4.0 status. I have experience with students with ADHD and some tips and tricks to keep them on task, as well as students with other disabilities who need more explanations in non-conventional ways.

Are they aware of and utilizing the resources the teacher has provided? Have they setup their environment and support for their success - where do they study? Are their family and friends aware of their priorities and what they are trying to do? Are they dedicating an adequate amount of time to the material and reviewing it more than once? Are they attending class?

It is always beneficial to communicate well with your teacher when you are struggling and doing well. However, before asking for more, make sure you are using everything they are currently supplying you with and you are putting in the amount of time and energy that they expect of you.
