About
My service is unique because of the experience I have working with students that are significantly below grade level or have been identified with learning disabilities. I work with each student at their unique skill level and challenge them to grow from there. Ultimately, my approach is to feed an intrinsic motivation to learn and be successful (to be self motivated!).
I am experienced working with students with challenging behavior as well as academic and social/emotional needs.
What I enjoy most about the work I do is watching students transition from apathy to engagement. Rekindling the love of learning and joy of understanding is my mission and being a part of that process is very exciting to me.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to spend a few minutes each session checking in with the student to hear what their engagement level is and if there are any barriers to working today. After that I try to let them lead by putting into words or showing me what they understand and where they need help. From there I teach, demonstrate, support their work and challenge where appropriate to bring it to the next level :)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my Secondary Teaching License to teach Math and have been working with the School District for 10years. In addition to teaching math, I worked with students with special needs for 7 years as an educational assistant, helping with academic success as well as social/emotional skills. I have also worked with students with a very high level of academic skills (identified as TAG) in school and extra curricular activities.
