Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get to know the student by knowing their interests, their academics strengths & areas to improve, and how they feel they learn the best.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified Oregon teacher for secondary English. I have taught at the elementary level and secondary level, both outside and in the United States.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$12/hour for elementary and middle school level
$15/hour for high school level
$20/hour for college level and beyond
How did you get started teaching?
I’ve had the love of teaching since middle school, but it was in high school when I fully realized that passion after I had a teacher that met me where I was as a freshman. I know how much it means to students to have a teacher that not only is there to help, but is also there to encourage & support. I got started teaching in high school through “tutoring” my friends with their essays and Spanish homework. I became a certified teacher in 2016 with my teaching license in California and got my teaching license for Oregon in the beginning of 2019.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught for 5 years and have worked with many types of students. I am comfortable with teaching all learning styles and methods. I've worked with many ESL/ELL students, both in the US and outside the US.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently had my first child and absolutely love being mom to my sweet little boy!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher who you are willing to work with; as a teacher, nothing makes it better than knowing our students are willing to put in the work to be successful because we are able to do all we can to make sure you do!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Make sure to go over all the material and resources you already have from your class to be able to know what already has been addressed. When a student knows what has already been done and has attempted it, a teacher can know what has already been done and then help with the next steps!
