I just concluded a 46-year teaching career. Most of that time was spent instructing English language arts in middle school, but I am comfortable working with students of all ages and ability levels.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
After discussing the needs of the student with teacher(s) and parent(s), we establish some formal goals. What skills need to be worked on? What standards need to be met? This includes what the student will will be sble to do and when to show progress. We then devise a plan for how these goals will be met. This includes deciding on the method of instruction, based on the student's individual needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been an ELA teacher for 46 years. I have published a 5-volume writing-instruction series that was nationally marketed, am a novelist, and was the 1995 Yavapai County (AZ) teacher of the year.
