Academic Writing Tutor
About
I am an experienced tutor and published writer residing in Bend, Oregon. I graduated with honors from the University of Colorado at Boulder, majoring in English/Creative Writing and Philosophy, and also received my MFA in Writing from California College of the Arts in San Francisco. I strongly believe in the transformative power of learning, and as a tutor, I am passionate about empowering students to pursue what inspires them intellectually. Because my educational experience gave me the tools to evolve my own creative and critical thinking skills, I aim to do the same for tutoring clients.
I have five years of experience tutoring students of all ages. As a private tutor, I work individually with clients on various subjects, including basic writing skills, reading comprehension, literary analyses, and research papers. I was an academic coach with the Learning Resource Center during graduate school, where I provided personalized instruction to undergraduates, including non-native speakers, on a wide range of assignments. Additionally, I supported students outside of class as a teaching assistant for three undergraduate writing classes: an introductory course for ESL students, and two advanced theme-centered courses. I always endeavor to inspire students to find their strengths and develop innovative ideas with a mindful, imaginative approach.
As a tutor, I strive to create a path for students to achieve their goals, and am therefore open to suggestions on how to best create this collaborative relationship with the students I work with. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have, or to schedule a lesson!
