What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with an assessment to identify skills the student already has to ensure working to further develop their skills as a reader.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have teaching degrees and training from Texas, Florida, and Oklahoma.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I work with parents to design a program that meets their child's needs.
How did you get started teaching?
I helped tutor some students after college graduation and was pursued by their school to come work their full time because of the students success.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types of kids! I've worked with beginning readers through 8th graders. I also have taught English language learners from a wide variety of backgrounds. My students have spoken Creole, Arabic, Spanish, and English.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
There is nothing more rewarding than seeing kids be successful and happy in school after struggling for years feeling they aren't good at reading.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who can help you discover your personal strengths and passion for learning. Once you have been given those keys you will be able to do anything!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Nothing! If you are a lifelong learner wanting to improve your knowledge and skills we can go on this journey together.
