Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process for new students is to ascertain their hopes and expectations and then communicate realistic and attainable goals. Whether it be passing your college Spanish class or learning to communicate with friends, I can start at the beginning and teach reading, writing and listening comprehension skills by using a variety of resources that make my lessons productive and interesting.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a master's degree from Penn State University in Music Performance. Although unrelated to language education, it was in the course of my opera education that I developed a passion for languages. I have been a teacher for most of my adult life and started teaching Spanish about 8 years ago, first for the Language Learning Exchange at Northwest Baptist Church and later with private high school and college students.
