Artemis’s English & Writing Online Tutoring
About
Whether we are writing an email, a book report, or a research paper, we are telling our own stories to others, and everyone's story is unique. I try to help my students understand what makes their story unique and use that to help them learn all aspects of the English language.
I worked as a news editor for a year at The Bison, my college's newspaper, before graduating with a degree in Creative Writing and a minor in Psychology in May 2020. I have continued writing for various publications, especially online, since.
My younger sisters and I have mild dyslexia and ADHD and I helped my mother homeschool my sisters. I know many strategies for coping with dyslexia and ADHD, as well as other learning disabilities.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I start tutoring someone, if I'm helping them for another class, I try to find out as much as I can about that class's curriculum and goals.
Then, I start going through a lesson or homework sample with the student, and we figure out specific areas where the student is struggling most. This can be as broad as memorizing grammar rules or as narrow as noticing they switch their Bs and Ps.
Then I guide the student through those problem areas, giving them tools to solve those difficulties.
After a bit of practice, I let the student explain what they've learned to me, so they can show that they know how to use those tools on their own now.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's in Creative Writing with a minor in Psychology from Oklahoma Baptist University.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $22 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in Sunday School every once in a while when I was in middle school. In college, I helped many people structure, research, and edit papers, and did grading for an english professor for three years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked the most with undergraduate students, homeschooled students, and students with learning disabilities like ADHD and Dyslexia.
