Hi I am Trista! I grew up in Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Oklahoma, and then I earned a Master's Degree in Education from Pittsburg State University. I have been teaching for 13 years in both traditional classroom settings as well as online school. My teaching certificate is for grades 5-12 in Language Arts, Literature, Reading, and Writing. In addition to these subjects, I have 3 years experience in teaching students math, science, and history. Recently, I have opened my own creativity and learning studio called Revise|Collective in Edmond, Oklahoma. My learning studio is locally owned and operated by ME, an Oklahoma certified teacher with more than a decade of experience teaching in Oklahoma public schools. Our tutoring services are personalized while keeping in line with the Oklahoma Academic State Standards. I love working with students. I learn so much from them. That's kinda the point of life, right? That's my philosophy: "I am here to learn." I learn so much by teaching.
Some of the best knowledge I have gained from teaching my kiddos is cultural awareness, patience, diverse learning methods, and grace. One of the things I have learned in recent years from a more technical standpoint is how beneficial virtual learning is for all of us in society. Many students need the structure and traditional routine of a brick and mortar classroom, but many students and families thrive with the flexibility of online learning.
My learning studio is equipped to support both school structures: do you need tutoring for your traditional school building homework? Do you need a study lounge concept for flexible support with your online school work?

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process is to hear you out on what you need. Then help you learn the answers to your own questions. I am a writing teacher, so I usually provide editing remarks. When I work through other content outside of writing, I really like to hear students explaing what they DO understand so I can know where to add clarification as needed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an Oklahoma teaching certificate in English Language Arts, endorsed for grades 5-12. My Bachelor's degree in English Literature, and my Master's is in Education.

My learning studio also offers study lounge options for students to have supervision, accountability, and assistance with their virtual learning platforms. These start $260 per month.
