Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When starting lessons with a new student, my first concern is how they can best learn the material/technique. Simply, what is their experience? In which aspects or specific skills do they excel? Why do they excel in these areas? How may we apply these talents to overcome difficulties in other areas..
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold Masters Degrees from the University of Central Oklahoma (String Performance) and the University of Oklahoma (Music Composition). I own and operate a private lesson business teaching guitar, mandolin, and banjo. I also tutor students in grammar, writing, and research for music and humanities related subjects/projects. I routinely sit on graduate student’s committees and edit research papers and graduate thesis publications.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I simply charge 20.00 per hour for online tutoring, privatelessons, and editing of research and thesis papers. My in person lessons are held in the students home and cost 25.00 per hour... :)
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching private lessons when I earned my undergraduate degree in music to help pay for graduate school.
What types of students have you worked with?
My private music students are of all ages (8-60). College students undergraduate and graduate.
