About
My name is Branden Kappes, and I am an honors student at College of Public Health at the Ohio State University. I have been a tutor for seven years, focusing on science, math, and ACT prep. My OSU cumulative GPA is 3.96 and I scored a 36 on the ACT.
Much of my experience is with students with ADHD and autism, and I am passionate about helping kids with special needs excel.
My teaching philosophy is that "memorization is hard, underrstanding is easy." Math and science shouldn't be exercises in memorization. If, instead, students understand the processes and methods they're using, these subjects become much easier. (And hopefully, enjoyable!).

Before the first session, I like to connect with the student or parent (age dependent) over the phone or email, to see what the student is working on and their goals. During the first session, I typically assess the student's strengths and weaknesses, and we create a plan for the rest of our sessions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I worked for College Nannies and Tutors for a year, and received their in house tutoring training.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $25/hr for K-12 and college tutoring, and $35/hr for ACT prep.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from grade 4 up to college students, most of whom have had ADHD or Autism.
