Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I introduce myself and explain what I do. The student can then mention what their needs are to see if there is a fit or not.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's Degree in Educational Technology--Human Resources Specification.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Periodically I offer specials, but I do have a standard pricing system. Since I'll be coming on board pretty much for the first time on this platform, I'll offer a special before May 2018.
How did you get started teaching?
In my field, it's mainly called training, but I got started after graduating college with a BA in Spanish/Social Work. With various jobs including substitute teaching, I noticed I would pick up as far as how tasks were becoming more dependent on the computer. After several layoffs, I went back to school to gain my Master's Degree and throughout the Master's program became more interested in training.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've mainly worked with adults, but while I did some substitute teaching it was solely kids (mainly junior high and high school).
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My last customer asked me to develop and manager her ecommerce website. I tried really hard to refer to someone else because that wasn't my specialty. She wouldn't take no for an answer. I was honored that she asked me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Whatever question you're afraid to ask, that's the ONE to ask to make sure what you need as a student is accomplished.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask questions that will clearly define your goals. For example, if the goal is to have a combination of an Excel and Word training (or course), and it's to concentrate on the differences between the 2010 version and the 2016 version, specifically state that. As another example, if the goal is to improve on editing in Word, and it has to be the 2016 only, then state that.
