Being a proffesional tutor for KSU, in all levels of: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Math for 4years really showed me my passion for assisting students of all types and ages through their coursework. It's honestly fullfiling to pass on what I learned so students can achieve their goals and the future we're all pointing toward.
I think Chemsitry, Biology, Physics, and Math are extraordinary subjects to study. They quite literally describe the living world around us. I enjoy this part the most while I work to develop new patents and publish new ideas in reserach journals.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically start by briefly introducing myself, then begining to work on whichever topic the student needs help with. After our first session I gain a better understanding on what learning style is most receptive to the student and I typically tailor my teaching to best fit the students learning style. Kinestethic, Auitory, and Visual learners are all welcome to STEM Tutoring!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with honors form Kent State University, receiving a double bachelors degree in Biochemistry and Psychology. I have 4yrs of proffesional tutoring experience in Chemistry / Math / Biology / Physics / Anatomy & Physiology / Psychology. I have 7 years of industrial work experience as a Biological Chemist / Chemist co-inventing 12 patents and co-authoring 2 published research articles. $25/hr for undergraduate level courses
$20/hr for highschool or lower level courses
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching chemistry, as a tutor, after my freshman year in college. I struggled through chemistry in highschool but when I entered college something clicked. I like to credit the proffessor who was our instructor. She made the material very easy to grasp the difficult concepts at the fast pace the class was scheudled to. This taught me a lot...seeing both sides of the coin. I adopted her teaching style intially in my teaching. Of course over the years Ive addapted and adopted the best teaching styles Ive encountered and will continue to teach / assist other students. It is a true passion of mine.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students from age, race, ethnicity, gender identifcation, and most importantly learning style.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event I am most fond of would be... When I took my dog for a walk for the first time without a leash. She's a a year and half old. I was amazed and heart struck by the freedom she felt to finally be off the leash but equally amazed at how she stuck by my side, while still trailing off to catch a scent or two here and there. We're working on it haha!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise someone with educational and work experience that also, most importantly, has a passion for teaching. Many people are over qualified to teach yet they do not have the mindset to teach, from my experience. So in summary.. experience and heart!
