About

I am an eternally inquisitive college student who believes fervently in the aphorism "knowledge is power." While I am not a career teacher, I am always eager to share my knowledge with others. After all, I view knowledge as a gift that I treasure humbly, and being able to share that gift is even more meaningful to me.

I have tutored numerous students in various subjects and grade levels since my very first tutoring job as an eighth grader tutoring peers in pre-algebra. I helped struggling classmates go from tearful frustration to genuine understanding, and was thrilled to see Ds and Fs be replaced by Bs and As. I discovered that I possessed the natural ability to elucidate, and have continued ever since.

I am studying as an undergraduate currently, having graduated from high school a few years ago in the top 3% of my class. I am passionate about academics and have devoted myself to the pursuit of excellence since my earliest years in school. I am enthusiastic about learning, and I endeavor to cultivate enthusiasm in every student I work with, as well. I have tutored students as young as third graders, but most of my students are high schoolers. I tutor math (pre-algebra, algebra 1 & 2, precalculus, geometry, trigonometry, statistics) as well as biology, chemistry, language arts, and psychology (including AP and honors courses) as well as ACT/SAT exam prep.

I treat my students' grades and scores as if they are my own, and am passionate about making sure they feel confident in their understanding. I strive to help them perform as well academically as possible, and I am fully invested in the succes of every student I work with. I make my contact information available to all of my students so that they can access me if they need help outside of sessions. For example, if a student is stumped on a homework problem on an evening at home, they can take a photo and send it to me and I can work a similar problem out as an example and provide them with tips and clarifications. I send them more practice problems and other resources to help them master the concepts. I also can check their work if they are unsure they completed a problem correctly. I encourage my students to reach out to me any time with any questions, and I always make sure to reply at my earliest convenience and to provide the most thorough guidance I can.

My students are at the pinnacle of my priorities every single day, and I devote my best effort to helping them achieve their goals and perform well academically.

There is nothing more rewarding than witnessing the beautiful moment that a student understands something for the first time. Seeing the metaphorical light bulb above their head is deeply fulfilling, especially when the material felt impossible to them. I cherish seeing their joy and pride when they report their grades rising, and I am so proud of every student for their achievements, big or small.

I relish in being able to teach others about anything that is mentally stimulating to me, which is virtually limitless. Facilitating learning in others is something I will always have a passion for.

I am currently studying undergraduate, with majors in psychology and biology and a minor in chemistry. I am hoping to go into the medical field and conduct research, and possibly pursue a career as a post-secondary educator as well.

I graduated from high school in the top 3% of my class, having taken every honors and AP course offered by my school. The majority of my tutoring jobs have been with high schoolers, and I build on my past experience taking many of the courses my students take. I work with students to prepare them for the ACT and/or the SAT, which I scored in the 97th percentiles in for both. I share the strategies and tips that helped me persoanally earn those scores in addition to tailoring my approach to the individual needs of each student, targeting their specific areas of weakness. I find that my fairly recent familiarity of the nuances of these exams beneficial in helping students navigate them.

I have conducted and presented a research project as a high school student partaking in the Cleveland Clinic's summer internship program, and have been a contributing author to several academic publications in the field of psychology.
