Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to begin by asking the student in what areas they feel they need the most help and what they would like to get out of our sessions. From there, we work on the identified skills, whether that means learning study skills for learning vocabulary or completing practice exercises, etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I completed a college level minor in Spanish with a GPA of 4.0, have studied the language for 10 years, have real world experience speaking Spanish with native speakers, and I also have experience working as a college math tutor. Additionally, I completed a special education minor in college where I learned foundational teaching skills.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$20/hr - Venmo is preferred, but I can accept other payment methods if necessary.
How did you get started teaching?
As a college undergrad I gained teaching experience through my Special education minor and university tutoring job. I also gained experience teaching social skills and sports skills to children with ADHD for two summers in college as part of a summer camp. I'm continuing to develop research based-tutoring/teaching skills in my School Psychology Masters programs.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with children between ages 6 - 14 and adults 18-22. I have worked with individuals with learning disabilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My fondest tutoring memory is from college, when a student of mine who I had worked with multiple times a week for an entire semester passed her class, which was required for her to earn her teachng degree. Witnessing her growth from our first session to the last session was incredible!
