About
I established my company, HoupeActs Learning Center LLC, in 2022. With more than 20 years of experience in the field of education, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my practice. Over the past 5 years, I have worked as an online Intervention Specialist with several companies and served as an Independent Tutor Contractor.
My educational background includes two Master’s degrees—one in Education with a concentration in Literacy and the other in Educational Leadership—as well as a Master's Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Passion for Student Progress
What I love most about my work is witnessing the strides that my students make. Two of the mottos that I adhere to are, "We Celebrate To Elevate' We Are Committed To You!" and "Practice Makes Progress!" I find great satisfaction in receiving progress report updates from parents, which alert me to the academic and behavioral successes their children are achieving in their respective school programs.
Distinct Approach to Tutoring
My tutoring services stand out due to a proven track record of student-centered methodologies, alignment with State Standards, data-driven approaches, and goal-oriented results. I differentiate my instruction by using diagnostic tools to create highly personalized plans and focus on actionable metrics to ensure students are aware of the areas they need to improve. Drawing upon my ABA training, I can incorporate behavior strategies tailored to individual student needs when necessary. I utilize a variety of universal curriculum resources, strategies, and assessment tools, including the Heggerty curriculum, science-based approaches such as Explicit Instruction, ReadWorks, The Science of Reading, and The Science of Writing.
My unique method for fostering independent learning is a Tailored-Engaging Methodology, developed through extensive experience with diverse learning needs throughout my educational and volunteer journey. This patient and adaptive approach is particularly effective in helping anxious learners build confidence and comfort.
