Hi, I’m Paul!
About
Hi I'm Paul! I am 24 years old, between jobs and looking to help with math, science, english and any other homework/school needs! I also have been playing guitar since I was 8 years old. The first songs I learned was Iron Man and Crazy Train. I play more blues now, but I love guitar all the same.
I graduated in 2019 with a B.A. in Actuarial Mathematics and plan on studying for my first two actuarial exams in the next 12 months. I have always enjoyed math and have always been everyone's go to for questions or answers throughout school. I even taught myself AP Calc AB the year before I actually took the class! Just so I could understand my AP Physics C class better. I can help from any subject from Algebra I to Calculus, including linear algebra, elementary analysis (proof writing), financial math, probability and statistics.
I even do mathematical art!
We can discuss price and everything when you message me back. I need to know what exactly you need help with and the more difficult the material, the more it will cost. However, the most I will ever charge is $50/hr.
I am a firm believer that school and learning should be associated as a positive experience overall. Students are not "dumb" or "slow". If anything, asking for help when you need it is actually the smartest thing you could ever do. No one will understand every lesson fully after just one time. If you had a difficult time understanding the lesson, then you just need it to be revisited and broken down in however way you need.
I want to show my students that learning doesn't have to be hard or painful, you can learn tools to improve your experience.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I am typically very adaptable to the students particular needs. Usually before we start, I like to discuss what they need help with the most. Identifying areas in which they struggle with the material and then simplifying or re-examining the topic. Or if they need homework help, I can act as a resource. Pointing them in the direction or offering alternative perspectives towards a solution.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors of Arts degree in Actuarial Mathematics. I have taken extensive, challenging college courses in order to prepare myself for a career in data analytics. I have always been a help at school, including college, and have tutored since the 7th grade. If the question involves math, I'm interested.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Typically I will schedule for an hour minimum, but the rate can be negotiated to a degree. The rate starts at $25/hr no matter the material, however, for the more difficult material the rate will increase, peaking at $50/hr. I also help with standardized test prep such as ACT and SAT.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always enjoyed helping my fellow students with their homework. It made me feel good when I saw that "A-Ha!" moment in their face when they figured it out. No matter the subject, I wanna help you think about things differently and help you in your educational journey.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked mainly with high school age students or older. Also, I have worked with students who have learning disabilities such as ADHD and Asperger's.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently I moved in with my girlfriend, who lived in an entirely different state!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Algebra should be second nature. Also, if a teacher will expand on a point or possibly use visuals to aid in the learning process, that is an awesome plus.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What questions do you really have no idea on?
Do you remember any material that was confusing to you?
Do you want more practice with anything?
Ask the teacher what they may need some work on, we do not know or remember EVERYTHING.
