About
I connect with students very well. We play games, talk about school, and overall I try to make every session just as fun as it is informative. Nobody should dread learning, so I try to make each and every lesson exciting and fun.
Seeing a child improve to the point where he/she/they can do it all on their own is such a good feeling. When doing my job correctly, a child should end their lessons with no need for me, being able to do the subject all on their own. That is a very enjoyable moment because they are self-sufficient now.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I think the most important thing is to start by meeting the new student. Find out their interests, what they like, what they dislike, and work out a plan from there. For example, a student who enjoys Superheros can learn to comprehend stories by reading action books, but a student who enjoys Sports will enjoy non-fiction-based stories instead. Knowing, understanding, and befriending the student is the most crucial part of learning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
2 Years NHS tutoring at Stow-Munroe Falls High School
Kent State Help Desk (5 Months)
GradePotental Tutoring (Full-Time Employment)
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30 an hour, all supplies provided by me. $75 for 3 hours. I will provide notebooks, utensils, textbooks, and other reading materials completely free of charge.
How did you get started teaching?
I was inspired to leave my computer science degree after I discovered a passion for teaching by my little brother. After that quick course correction, I became a tutor at Stow-Munroe Falls High School and was employed by GradePotental tutoring full time. I am using this as a third option to discover new and exciting students!
What types of students have you worked with?
Any age from Kindergarten all the way to Seniors in High School. Learning from a formative age is just as engaging to me as mastering a subject you've been learning for years.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A student that I was tutoring was told that he had to pass his English 12 final if he wanted to go to prom. Pushing him to his best and teaching him everything he needed to pass his test, then hearing about his magical prom date on his final lesson with me was a pretty great memory.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a friend, not a teacher. The smartest, most talented, educated teacher can't teach you much if you don't get along with them. Being friends and looking forward to each session is just as important as the session itself.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. What other issues have I faced in the past that relate to this? How did I solve those?
2. How can solving this issue help me in my academic career?
3. What parts of this topic do I understand the best, and what parts do I not understand at all?
