Brickerson Tutoring
About
Hi! My name is Sa'mone, and I have over three years of experience helping students build confidence in their language and academic skills.
I currently work as an ESL Instructional Assistant with Columbus City Schools, where I support students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds as they develop their English skills and navigate the classroom. I also hold a Paraprofessional License and a TESOL certification.
Before joining Columbus City Schools, I spent two years living in Bolivia, where I worked as an online English tutor. Although I had been studying Spanish for about eight years before moving abroad, it was through daily life, friendships, and immersion in the community that I became fluent. Experiencing language learning from both sides—as a teacher and as a language learner myself—has given me a unique perspective that I bring into every lesson.
In addition to English language support, I also offer tutoring in basic reading and writing skills as well as Spanish. My background in language learning has helped me develop patience, adaptability, and an appreciation for the fact that every student learns differently. I enjoy getting to know my students, understanding their goals, and finding teaching methods that work best for them.
What I love most about tutoring is seeing students gain confidence in themselves. Whether a student is learning English, strengthening their reading and writing skills, or building confidence in Spanish, my goal is to create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing along the way.
I believe learning should feel encouraging, engaging, and personalized. Every student has the ability to succeed, and I enjoy helping them discover that for themselves.
