About
I tutor students who would like to speak and write English more effectively than they currently do.
I enjoy seeing the satisfaction on the faces of the students I have tutored when they have accomplished something that they didn't think they could do. I have been tutoring since 2007 and substitute teaching since 2002. I have helped a variety of students, k-12 and adults in Central Ohio. I hold a Ph.D. in art education from The Ohio State University and taught Art and Music Since 1950 at the OSU Columbus and Newark campuses. I also taught Introducation to Western Art at Troy University--the Naval Air Station, Eglin Air Force Base and Ft. Walton Beach regional office.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I especially enjoy learning what a student would like to focus on learning. Sometimes I think teachers can learn a lot more by listening to students and their needs than by suggesting what should be studied. However, I do believe good grammar is the foundation and I had a wonderful teacher, Mrs. Large, who focused on grammar and sentence structure for an entire academic year, so I am very comfortable in teaching grammar and in helping students improve in that area.
