Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I like to get to know the students. What are their likes and dislikes. Then test them with no help, to see how they work. Find out their strengths and things they need to work on. Once I find out everything I need I will be able to create a unique plan to help that specific teacher.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Went to school for Communications and Human Services. Currently in school for Data Analysis.
I have courses/trainings in preschool learning, English, group and one on one communication, autism, down syndrome, behavior therapy, reading and writing for children, sign language, and basic speech therapy skills.
How did you get started teaching?
I was a co teacherateacher 10 years ago for a special needs class. It was for a college internship.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who loved language arts, math, science, or social studies. I worked with students with an IEP, special needs, physical and mental disabilities, behavioral issues, some who are excited to learn, and some that just needed a little extra help.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It is good to choose a teacher that you will be comfortable with. Choose a teacher that will help you with that specific subject you will need help with.
