About

I have a great passion for both written and spoken language myself. Having studied 4 foreign languages throughout my life with varying proficiency, I am enchanted by all the ways that language can be wielded. I would love the opportunity to help others find and cultivate their passion for language, too!

In addition to writing many personal essays and poetry pieces, I always feel a profound joy in completing written assignments in my college workload. In my mind, beautiful language is a grand unifier. Having worked as a summer literacy teacher with the Children's Defense Funds' Freedom Schools in 2019, I recently discovered that I have a deep passion for and strong inclination towards teaching. Through that experience, I have also found that helping students come to their own realizations about the world and the things they learn helps broaden my own worldview, as well.

I greatly look forward to meeting my new students and growing with you!

Frequently asked questions

First, I want to know you a bit. Since we will be working closely during our tutoring session, I believe knowing the basics (your name, how you identify, the reason you've pursued a tutor, and what you hope to get out of our sessions) are essential in having the most productive sessions possible! Knowing a bit about you will not only help me better tailor our sessions to your needs, but it will also allow for some interpersonal connection, which is most conducive to any exemplary learning environment.

Next, we will discuss the type of learner that you are (kinesthetic v. visual, etc) and come to a mutual understanding of our individual and shared expectations for how we can facilitate the best working environment for both of us!

Finally, we will get into the "meat" of what you would like to cover in our sessions and work on establishing a lesson plan from there!

I am currently an incoming fourth year Cultural Comparative studies major at The Ohio State University with a focus on foreign language, and have studied Spanish for an excess of ten years.

Throughout my college career I have participated in 2 different long-term mentorship programs. The first of which was a mentorship program for incarcerated youth where I helped craft and facilitate political/social education curriculum for the duration of the academic year, while also offering more individualized mentoring. The second program last for the length pf a full two years, in which I gave highly individualized mentorship and life-guidance to my youth pairing.

In my summer teaching experience, I attended a two week intensive training on trauma-informed care and classroom management. Following these trainings, I taught a classroom of students for and 8 week summer literacy program in which I created my own daily lesson plans from the national CDF summer curriculum. These lesson plans were then infused with the personal emphasis on the arts, sustainability, and global political/social awareness that I brought to my site.

$20/hr for a once weekly session.

I have worked with students and mentees fron all ages ranging from small children (as young as 5) to my own peers (18-23 age range). I am comfort working with all age groups.

Do not hire someone based on the criteria of either who makes you feel best or who has the best credentials alone. Both facets of a teacher are equally important to the student getting the most out of their learning experience.

What am I expecting out of my sessions?

How hard am I willing to work to make these expectations a reality?

What do I need as a student to facilitate my best learning environment?
