Jacob's Biology Tutoring
About
Welcome to Jacob's tutoring!
I recently graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in biological sciences. My education includes biology, biochemistry, evolution and biodiversity, neuroscience and behavior, general and organic chemistry, immunology and virology. This is not an exhaustive list by any means. I am also very proficient in algebra based physics at a college level.
I earned a 521 on my MCAT in May of 2020 and am able to tutor a wide variety of MCAT subjects (yes, even CARS)
ACT/SAT math/science tutoring is also well within my wheelhouse.
I love learning and spreading the joy of learning to others is incredibly satisfying! Everybody has moments where a topic just "clicks" and I guarantee those moments in every tutoring session.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I'll ask you about a few specific (or broad) topics that they you to review. Then, I'll take some time reviewing my own notes and making sure that I understand the material completely before our tutoring session. I'll ask you to bring some practice problems for us to go through together, and I will gather some of my own practice problems. From there, I'll walk you through the material in an easy to understand way and ensure that you understand it all.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I recently graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in biological sciences and a 3.7 GPA.
521 MCAT
34 ACT (36 math, 35 science)
1510 SAT
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Because I'm a new tutor, the first lesson is free. If you want to continue then we can discuss pricing for future lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I did some tutoring in high school, but none since then. Nevertheless, I'm excited to improve my skills and help you ace your exams!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask yourself: What are my goals and where am I right now? What specific topics do I need to improve to get to where I want to be? How much time am I willing to put into the lessons?
If you know how much time you're willing to spend on lessons, and how far you are from your goals, then I can develop a best strategy to get you where you need to be.
