About
Having a strong passion for helping others allows Jacob's Learning Corner to offer caring and expert tutoring to anyone in need. Going above and beyond for the students is at the forefront of everything I do. During college, I helped many fellow classmates with creative and professional essays and other literary works. Having a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology has expanded my knowledge and allows me to be distinguished in educating others. Currently enrolled in an Educational Master's program at the University of Akron, I plan to further my education to become a full-time educator.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I like to take a couple minutes just to get to know the individual. I think it is important to know how someone learns before jumping into content. Once we establish a mutual comfort with one another, the learning process becomes much easier.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Akron, along with a Minor in Human Resource Management.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$40 per 1 hour session.
How did you get started teaching?
Many of my fellow classmates knew that I had good study techniques and excellent GPA, therefore they would ask me for assistance in those areas. By helping them, I realized I had a passion for helping people succeed in the classroom, jumpstarting my career as a tutor and future full time educator.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked primarily with college students, with a mix of high school and middle school students in the math and English areas.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Graduating in December 2019, I had to leave multiple friends back at college. Even after graduating, I had a friend email me asking to help with an assignment, to just get some background on the subject since I had taken the class. Without just simply giving out the answers or writing the essay for him, I gave him the tools he needed to be successful on the project. It made me really happy to still be able to help out, and sparked a new interest in me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who truly cares about your success, not just in the classroom but also in future endeavors. If the person tutoring you or teaching you has it in their heart that they want to get you to the next step in life and help you be successful, you're in good shape and in good hands.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Knowing how you like to learn or what helps you the best is a great start. If you can come in and tell the person helping you that you're more of a visual person or you like lots of examples, they will know how to better assist you and you will get more out of the hour session then if you just come into it. Also, have a concrete topic on what you specifically need help in. If you come in with general questions, Of course they can be answered and you can be helped with those general questions, but it might not give you oh what you really need.
