Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I find out what a new student needs help with, prepare a short lesson simply explaining the concept's fundamentals, and walk them through some examples as practice to help build confidence and mastery.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a gifted high school senior. I have scored almost perfectly on the SAT and ACT, passed multiple AP exams including chemistry, physics, and statistics, and maintain a GPA above 4.0.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge a minimum of $25/hour, but have charged $60+/hour in the past for more advanced subjects and test prep.
How did you get started teaching?
I started tutoring students at the request of a teacher at my school, then went on to tutor students at surrounding high schools.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with other high schoolers who needed help with math, science, and standardized test preparation. I am willing to work with any student grade 7 and up (age 13 and up).
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The more clearly you can explain your questions or challenges, the more helpful a tutor will be for you. Also, by scheduling more in advance of a deadline, you will cause less stress for yourself and increase your chance for a better grade.
