Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Firstly, I like to do a preassessment to ascertain a skill level and a focus for instruction. I also ask the client if they have any particular areas of concern. I believe that establishing a relationship and rapport is important, as it helps me understand how to develop my instruction.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in Middle Childhood Education, with concentrations in Social Studies and Language Arts. I am in the process of completing my Masters in Education.
How did you get started teaching?
I have wanted to teach from a young age. I first started as a junior historical instructor at Zoar Village at age 11, and the rest is history. My classroom experience started in 2006 and continues to this day.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught grades 3 through 8. I have tutored children from preschool through college-aged. I have also taught children with a wide range of diversity, including those on IEPs, on the Autism spectrum, the learning disabled, and those designated gifted.
