Westchester Calculus, Physics, ACT&SAT Tutoring
About
Hello! My name is Sean, and I'm a graduate student in a program related to engineering and sustainability. I'm also a tutor in math and physics subjects (and some programming too).
I've been tutoring since I was in high school, and have done it in several formats- on my own, with education companies both in person and online, and at a school. Through these jobs, I've gained experience with tutoring math for the SAT and math and science for the ACT as well.
I believe that the best way to learn math and physics is to try to solve problems on your own right from the start. So, what I like to do is give small chances for students to do that to reinforce concepts as I teach them. Then, I'll gradually build to more complicated problems. At the end of a lesson, I'll ask the student to summarize what they learned in that session.
I'm currently looking for one or two regular students to tutor online. I may be moving to Thailand for some time, and just need some supplementary income. The time difference being 12 hours, my mornings would be evenings here, and vice-versa.
I love building up students' confidence so that they feel prepared to attack problems. I am best with advanced high school students or students taking lower-level college STEM courses. My best subjects are Pre-calculus, AP Calculus (aka Calculus I in college), AP Physics (aka Physics 1 in college), and SAT and ACT math. However, I can also tutor Algebra, Geometry, ACT science, Physics 2, fundamentals of programming, and a handful of other engineering courses.
