About
My services stand out for several reasons.
1. Since I am working with the same students every time, I get to know their challenges and their strengths. I get to know them as individuals.
2. Tutoring Centers often have different people teaching the students every week. There are often a group of students which means that the students are not getting the attention that they need and deserve.
3. I have extensive experience with special needs students, particularly students on the autistic spectrum and ADHD.
I have passed the Florida Teacher certification ESE test which enables me to teach special education students. Recently, I completed my TESOL 120 hour course which allows me to teach English to students that speak other languages.
I enjoy working with each individual student at their pace because I see much more progress than I would in a classroom setting. I get to know my students as people. I learn about their likes and dislikes and the students also get to know me.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before I work with a student, I give a free assessment. This gives me an idea of what their reading level is and where they are having difficulty. I take notes and record data that I get from the assessment and give that to the parents. We discuss a plan of action and we discuss what we will be working on in the sessions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors degree and I am State Certified in ESE K-12 and have earned a TESOL Certificate for teaching students that speak other languages.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I usually do a 30 minute lesson for K-2 grade twice per week at the rate of $25.00 per 30 minute session. I find that shorter sessions more frequently work best with that grade level.
If the student has a learning challenge such as ADHD, Autism etc. I would also do a 30 minute session at least twice per week at the rate of $25.00 per 30 minute session. These students are quite often further behind so I recommend more session per week for these students.
If the students are 3rd grade and up and have no learning challenges then I will do a 1 hour session at least once per week at the rate of $50.00 per 1 hour session. All of these situations depend on the individual student and their individual situations. My sessions are not a one size fits all.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students that have special needs and I am familiar with IEPs. Some of those students have had autism, ADHD etc. Sometimes I have worked with typically developing students that just need some extra support that they are not getting in the classroom.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Let the teacher know what problems you are having with your learning. Teachers have many tools and resources at their disposal that can help you. You are not a bad student and it is not your fault that you are having difficulty with a subject or subjects. Everyone learns differently and at their own pace. We are here to help you be the best student you can be and we are not going to judge you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is reading like for you?
Do you have trouble figuring out what the words say?
