Zareen Writing And ACT Prep
About
My goal in tutoring is to create the most tailored approach for each individual student. Every student has their own strengths, weaknesses, and comforts. Many typical tutoring firms tend to ignore the needs of the individual student for the purpose of uniformity. This, however, is not necessarily beneficial for every student. I plan on working with my students with a more personalized technique to truly help them grow and improve in their academic pursuits.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
1. I begin with assessing the student's skills with a diagnostic session. I assess through both an exercise and speaking with the student about where they believe they stand, what they believe their weaknesses to be, and where they would like to stand eventually.
2. Based on the concerns listed by the student and the assessments made by the diagnostic exercise, I plan on creating a curriculum appropriate to the situation. If the student has any particular topics or subjects they believe they need to work on, I will work on those first. If not, I would work on what I believe is necessary to be taught as dictated by the diagnostic. If no particular topics need to be taught I will begin with practice exercises and tasks.
3. Depending on the progress and needs of the student I will tailor the curriculum moving forward, with periodic assessments. I believe tracking is necessary to have a clear path of progress.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a full time student and recent high school graduate, I believe I will be able to empathize with the students and make them comfortable.
Furthermore, I've worked with people of various backgrounds, both in educational situations and otherwise. In January 2019 I went on a volunteer service trip to Cape Town, South Africa, in which I taught the local women of the township computer skills and computer software skills.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
