About
My classes will give you or your child the one-to-one attention needed to excel in the areas of ESL or reading intervention. The tools and strategies I used are designed to increase literacy skills. I am a licensed NYS teacher in general and special education. I have a TEFL/TESOL certification in Business English, General English, and English for Young Learners.
I truly enjoy seeing the improvements my students make over their time learning with me. I love being a part of that journey.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, please fill out my short interest form to receive a FREE reading assessment (or ESL assessment) for your child. The form will allow me to collect basic information about your child, their struggles/needs, and availability.
Please visit me at https://successinreadingny.tutorbird.com/Get-a-FREE-Reading-Assessment. This free reading assessment includes a FREE, optional dyslexia screening to determine if that may be a contributing factor to their reading struggles (please note: it is not a diagnosis of dyslexia)
Right after the assessment, we will consult to discuss your child's assessment, their goals, and any questions you may have. We will then decide on your child's ongoing schedule.
Once we get started working together, I use teaching tools and resources such as Raz Plus and ESL Library (for ESL students) as teaching content to assist the child in reaching their literacy or English learning goals. As we continue, I will do quarterly assessments to determine your child's level of improvement and communicate their progress to you along the way.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a licensed NYS teacher in general and special education. I have a TEFL/TESOL certification in Business English, General English, and English for Young Learners.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge an hourly rate of $55 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I began as a tutor when I was 13 years old. In 2010, I began teaching professionally. In 2014, I began teaching grade 2 in a charter school before I started working with special education students in a private school in grades K-8 (ages 5- 14).
What types of students have you worked with?
General and special education students as well as ESL students online (both children and adults).
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a credentialed teacher that is not only qualified to teach you, but that is also passionate about that area of teaching. Be sure to choose someone whom you feel comfortable with and who you feel truly cares for your success.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Consider the following:
1. What are my exact problem areas?
2. Am I able to fit extra help into my schedule so I can commit to consistency?
3. How dedicated am I when it comes to getting extra help?
