About

My name is Angela and I have a lot to offer in the way of tutoring. I have a double bachelor's in Physics and Astronomy as well as a master's in Space Science.

I was a math teacher at a boarding school for 14 years, so I have seen a number of different learning styles from around the country and around the world! I even have experience working with students with learning differences, including ADHD, discalculia, and Autism.

My goal is to help students set and achieve their mathematics goals. In addition to answering specific homework questions I have a lot of experience designing lessons that cover a variety of topics from subjects including Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and AP AB Calculus. I also help students learn about a growth mindset and how it will help them work up to their potential. I am excited about math, excited about science, and excited about problem-solving!!

I am an outstanding math tutor because I always put students and their questions at the center of my lessons. I am happy to supply examples for any topic of interest, or use examples from their class. I also have at least two or three distinct ways of explaining almost any concept!

If you have math questions, find yourself lost in class, or just want to ensure your success in your math class, please reach out for my services!

I love working one-on-one with students and helping them realize their mathematical potential! It is so rewarding to help a student come to new and deeper understanding of their math homework or project.

I also enjoy that I can customize my instruction to best meet my student's needs. If a student enjoys challenge, I can push them to do some math that is just beyond their understanding to encourage them to stretch. Or, there are other students who just need to finish their project or homework and I can accommodate that as well. I love meeting the student where they are and helping them in a way that best serves their needs.

Angela Maleski takes the time to prepare for each meeting I have with her. Even when I want to review math problems she isnt very familiar with, she will teach herself information before our meetings help me better understand my class material. Overall, Maleski tutoring is dedicated to ensuring student success and strengthening students confidence in solving future problems. After working with Maleski tutoring for several weeks, I can say that I wouldnt be where I am today academically without her help. Thank you Angela!!

    Frequently asked questions

I get in contact with the family to find out what the student wants to work on, the student's background in math, and if they have anything specific I should know that will help.  I often ask them to send me a copy of the homework assignment or project ahead of time so that I can research it and make sure I am prepared for our first session.

I have a BA in Physics and Astronomy and an MS in Space Science.  In addition, I have 14 years experience teaching math at a top-notch girls' boarding school in upstate NY. I have attended at least 5 math conferences over that time that were specifically focused on curriculum design and fun activities to help kids learn mathematics.  I also helped design a geometry textbook that my former school still uses and worked on a similar Algebra II textbook that we implemented for 2 years before switching curriculums.

I charge $50/hour for online sessions. I do sessions of all lengths and pro-rate as necessary.

I started as an intern at a private, experiential school in NH.  I have always known that I wanted to teach, but I thought that I wanted to do university level. Once I taught Middle and High School, though, I was hooked.

I have worked with students of all different backgrounds from all over the world.  Even though the school I worked for is a private boarding school we had many students who were on financial aid, so I worked with all different economic backgrounds as well.  I have taught students from all continents except Antartica, so I am familar with many different cultures and traditions.  I have picked up a little something from every student I've taught.  In fact, many of my most popular techniques are those that students have taught me over the years.

I would say to look for someone who puts students at the center of their tutoring.  Also, someone who is flexible and takes constructive criticism well.
