About

As a current graduate student in pharmacy school, I have a dynamic approach to learning continuously and building upon the foundation of knowledge that I have in biology and chemistry.

My experience includes being tutor at Siena College for three years, from which I graduated in 2019 with a B.S. in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Spanish. I have had extensive experience in both individual and group tutoring, and feel very confident in working one on one with students. I specialize in tutoring general biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and cell biology. I have a passion for learning I hope to pass on to my students.

Getting the opportunity to guide students from struggling with material to mastering it is unbelievably rewarding. This past year and a half in particular has shown how difficult it is for students to learn material remotely without adequate guidance. As someone who needed smaller groups and one-on-one time with professors and teachers, I always appreciated when someone who knew more than me gave me some of their time to help me out. I now hope to be a resource for my students to help them attain the goals that they have for their course work.

Very nice and knowledgeable! She was flexible with meeting times and helped better explain the topics of organic chemistry in a way that made sense to me.

Mackenzie has only been working with my daughter for a few weeks so far. Ive told her about my daughters learning style and expressed how unmotivated she is when it comes to Chemistry.
Mackenzie took the time to get to know her a bit. She listens and takes everything into consideration when planning her sessions. She has been able to motivate and keep my daughter interested. She puts a lot of work into the sessions and its paying off.
Mackenzie is sweet, flexible, approachable, dedicated and overall a great tutor! I reccomend her wholeheartedly.

    Frequently asked questions

I typically set up an introductory meeting, free of charge, in order to introduce myself and talk face to face with the student (and when applicable, their guardian) to evaluate their needs and concerns.

I completed my Bachelor's of Science in Biology at Siena College in May, 2019, where I also earned minors in both Chemistry and Spanish. I am currently pursuing two graduate degrees: a Doctorate of Pharmacy as well as a Master's in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. I have been trained as a tutor through Siena College, and have tutored both individuals and groups in biology and chemistry.

My pricing is generally $35 per one hour session.

Currently, I have worked with a variety of students in different courses and levels. I have worked with high school biology and chemistry students, honors and AP level biology and chemistry, home-taught students, as well as college level biology and chemistry students for a variety of undergraduate courses.

I completed a pharmacy rotation at an independently owned pharmacy near my home town. My preceptor and coworkers were incredibly kind and a wonderful resource to help me practice hands on pharmacy skills. I am fortunate enough to have been offered a part-time position with them, where I spend my time compounding medicines for animals and patients. It is very rewarding to see the physical application of having a firm understanding of biology and chemistry in my career.

Be willing to put in as much as you want out of your tutoring session. Science is hard! But that does not mean you cannot master whatever subject you need help with. You will enjoy the subject more if you engage with it and have fun with the learning challenge set before you!

What material am I struggling with the most?

What teaching methods do I find most effective; do I learn by watching videos, writing things out, repeating them to someone else out loud, etc?
