About

I am a Curriculum Consultant who designs and implements professional development and delivers AIS instruction in reading in elementary grades. Prior to that, I taught middle and high school English for 18 years. My expertise in English and Literacy has enabled my students to make consistent, significant growth in reading and on national, state, and local assessments. I want to share my expertise and passion for learning with others so that they can experience similar success.

I love seeing when a student "gets it." Being able to connect with a student, develop a relationship with mutual respect, and watch students thrive in a safe and nurturing learning environment is what successful teaching is all about.

Frequently asked questions

It all depends on the student's needs; however, the process has to start with a social-emotional, getting to know you lesson because without trust, we will not make progress.

20 years teaching secondary English and literacy across the east coast.

$35 per hour general flat rate.  If extensive planning is required, the price increases.  If less planning is required, the price decreases.  Quality lessons require quality planning.

I began teaching in 2001.  I always knew that I wanted to teach.  My grandfather was a college professor and I wanted to follow in his footsteps.

I have worked with all types of students.  I have taught every grade from 7 to 12 in English, AP Language and Composition, and currently, I teach phonics in small groups in grades K through 5.  I have co-taught in an inclusive setting for students with varying IEPs as well.  Currently, one of my students is autistic and I have worked with other students on the autism spectrum at the high school level.

I was able to visit my grandmother in the nursing home for the first time since August 2020.  I will cherish that event.

Make sure you like the person you are going to hire.  Have a meeting before choosing.  It is important to get along because trust and learning are easier if you respect and like the person with whom you're working.
