Paul Carson

Hello! I have three years of overall English Language Arts teaching experience. I’m a current Second-Year NYS Certified 7th Grade ELA Teacher through a public school district in the Capital Region. I’ve earned my B.A. in English from University at Albany, SUNY, and my M.A. in Teaching (ELA Focused) from Empire State University, SUNY. I have experience working in Honors, General Education, Co-Taught, and AIS Reading classrooms where I’ve taught, developed curriculum, materials, and teaching tools for all diverse learning needs.

I’m seeking to help students in grades 5-12 with the following:

1) Reading Comprehension (Fictional and Non-Fictional/Informative Texts)

2) Writing Skills (spelling, grammar, short and long written responses)

3) Vocabulary Identification, Acquisition, and Application

4) Homework Assistance and Confidence Development

5) Assessment Readiness (Classroom, District, State-Wide) through Test-Taking Strategies and Studying Preparation

I’m a life-long learner who regularly partakes in professional development to further hone my teaching abilities. My craft has led to NYS ELA State Test growth as well as students growing up to 2-3 grade levels in ELA abilities within on school year.
