About
I tutor because I love seeing students improve and gain confidence through their learning experience--everyone deserves to feel empowered through education, and some just need a little extra help to get there!
I engaged in school-sponsored peer tutoring throughout my high school experience, and have privately tutored a number of students into my college career. I have helped in a very wide range of subjects, including history, english (especially essay-writing and editing), economics, algebra II, and government. I am completely open to proposals for tutoring in all subjects: we can chat a bit and figure out what you need!
A little bit about me: My name is Justin O'Connor, and I am currently an undergraduate at the University of Rochester double majoring in history and political science. I am a low-income, first-generation college student, so I am very open to individualized, sliding-scale payment plans that fit what your family can afford. Here are a list of my accomplishments/test scores:
- Recipient of the Handler Scholarship, a full ride scholarship for high-achieving low-income and first-gen students at the University of Rochester
- Former member of the Schuler scholarship program, a college entry scholarship for high-achieving first-generation and low-income students in select high schools around the Chicago area.
- National Merit Scholarship semifinalist (PSAT score of 1500 out of 1520)
- SAT score of 1540, with 790 reading & writing and a 750 math score.
- Scored a 5 on the AP World History, US History, English Language, Psychology, Macroeconomics, US Government, and Comparative Government tests, and a 4 on AP Microeconomics. I also took AP European History, English Literature, and AP Computer Science Principles and passed each class (I opted not to take the tests due to not needing the college credit).
Feel free to contact me with any questions. My pricing and subject availability is very flexible and I am open to all kinds of individualized needs. I know it's tough to find good, affordable tutors, and I hope I can help fill that gap for families in need.
