I have been tutoring at all levels: Middle school, High school, College level for over 10 years.

Prior to tutoring, I was an R&D engineer at Exxon and at Xerox for about 30 years, followed by 5 years as a Visiting professor at RIT (Rochester, NY) for 5 years,

At the high school level, I have been tutoring in AP calculus, Ap Physics and preparing students for the ACT and SAT. Many students need help with geometry, trigonometry, Algebra 1 and 2, PreCalculus, Calculus, and Physics.

At the college level, many students need help with differential equations, applied math, numerical methods, Matlab programming, finite elements, and computationally involved courses.

I hold MSME and Ph.D. (D. Sci.) from Columbia University, NY.

I have enjoyed seeing many students do well on the SAT and get into colleges (some with good scholarships). I have also helped many college students do well in their courses, and for some to graduate at both the bachelor's and master's levels.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Usually, a student posts a question.

I reply as soon as possible about whether I can help, and we schedule either a meeting or an online session.

Typical meeting places are public libraries or bookstores. Because of Covid, I use Zoom for online tutoring.

Here are a few reviews I have had:

Knowledgeable, Patient

Possessed an extensive working knowledge of calculus and was very friendly and patient - extremely helpful!

Todd, 5 lessons with Lawrence

Matlab Expert

Mr. Lawrence was very patient with me during our session as I was completely lost with the use of MatLab. You can tell he really cares about helping others and definitely knows what he is talking about when it came to the concept of the lab that he helped me with. I feel a lot more motivated to learn the program after he explained the importance of the program throughout my career as a math major. I would highly recommend Mr. Lawrence. He is a skilled and professional tutor and really cares to help.

ARLYN, 3 lessons with Lawrence

Patient and caring

Lawrence was great! Will use him again for all our children. Best was his patience. He was not a clock watcher and took his time for our child to understand the technology before beginning the lessons.

Tony, 3 lessons with Lawrence

Very knowledgeable

Very good way of teaching so you can understand. I feel I am on the right track. Lawrence is a great tutor. I recommend him to anyone that really feels lost in math.

Joanna, 4 lessons with Lawrence

Very Calming Presence

Lawrence easily identified my sons strengths and weaknesses and explained his plan to meet our ACT objectives. We feel very confident in his ability to guide us.

Jason, 7 lessons with Lawrence

Very thorough and accommodating

Lawrence was very thorough in helping with Algebra 2 for the NYS regents exam. His schedule was flexible and we also did some online work was helpful

Amanda, 2 lessons with Lawrence

Very smart, patient and detail oriented

Lawrence was my sons tutor for statistics I and II this summer and he was unbelievable. Always available around my son's 40 hour a week working schedule. Lawrence never canceled, and no matter when my son needed help he was able to meet. My son earned an A in Stats I and currently has an A in Statistics II. You could not find a better tutor anywhere!
