My name is Emma and I have a degree in Biology and Inclusive Adolescent Education. I have 5+ years of tutoring experience and am passionate about helping my clients learn. Each client learns differently and I make each experience unique to them.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During the first session, I ask each student what they do really well and what they know. I want to understand their prior knowledge of the subject. I ask how they study and if they know how they learn best (visually, kinesthetically, etc.). I also get to know them, their hobbies or extracurriculars. This can be a wonderful tool to help the learn later on.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a NYS certified Special Education and Biology teacher grades 7-12.
I have over 5 years experience tutoring students age 10-21.

How did you get started teaching?
I began substitute teaching during my freshman year of college and fell in love. I changed my major the next semester and have never been happier.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked will all levels of students from gifted to special ed. I focus on the students strengths and help them see how they can use their strengths to engage learning.
