I have been a tutor for 6 years and thoroughly enjoy working with students to improve in a wide range of disciplines and areas.
I graduated from Columbia University in 2020 with a dual-degree in Neuroscience and Statistics. I worked as a both a teaching assistant and an academic/test-prep/college admissions tutor throughout my undergraduate experience and beyond. I have studied Mandarin Chinese for 8 years and have played both the piano and the cello for 12 years, with experiencing in tutoring all three of these skills.
I have a lot of experience with standardized test (ACT, SAT, SSAT, etc) preparation, with an average SAT score increase of 210 and an average ACT score increase of 3 points. I also have experience with college admissions counseling, with valuable skills learned from working at an Ivy League admissions office. I have worked with students ranging from 1st grade up to college undergraduates in a wide range of subjects.
I work with students to identify areas of strengths and areas of improvement to create individualizied tutoring plans to fit their unique needs. My goal is to help students flourish and succeed in an academic setting by giving them both the foundational and advanced skills needed to succed, along with helping them build the confidence to pursue anything of interest.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first few sessions with a new student typically involve a discussion of what their goals and desired tutoring/counseling outcomes are, an evaluation of their current strengths and areas of improvement through diagnostic assessments, and becoming comfortable and familiiar with each other.
From there, individualized lesson plans are made to maximize improvement and student experience. Session plans and potential homework assignmets are scheduled to give students a good idea of what they can expect and plan for.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a graduate from the Columbia University where I majored in Neuroscience and Statistics. I have experience working in a college admissions office reviewing applications and essays.
I have worked as a tutor for 6 years in both in-person and online formats, helping students in a wide array of subject areas, standardized test prep, and college admissions counseling.
I have gone through 3 months of tutoring training at a previous tutoring company. I have experience tutoring students from 1st grade up to college undergraduates. I also have experience tutoring students with special needs and learning disabilities such as dyslexia and ADHD.

Tutoring rates vary depending on grade, subject, format (online vs in-person), and specific student needs.
Rate includes an individualized and unqiue lesson plan tailored to students' needs and all outside of session prep.
Typical range: $35/h - $100/h
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching in middle school by helping my younger siblings with their coursework. I greatly enjoyed helping them and in high school I began helping out friends and tutoring at a formal level.
In college, I began work helping high school students with college admissions and standardized test prep.
