Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I begin by speaking with student/parents to determine their needs. This will help me determine what each session will entail ex. (if we will be doing a review of old topics, learning new topics, homework help, ect.)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a graduate of Dartmouth College after majoring in both Computer Science and Music. In computer science I tutor intro to coding, start to finish program development and web development. For music I specialize in playing piano and saxophone and have work in theory, composition, film scoring and conducting. I have also been tutoring algebra and other math courses since high school.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My price changes depending on what subject/course and the frequency of lessons. I will generally charge between $70-100 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I volunteered with an organization that paired students from my high school with students from a neighboring high school. We tutored those students to help them pass the New York state regents tests that are required to graduated.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with both middle and high school students.
