I have been teaching for over 25 years and tutoring privately for the last 8 years. I have a masters in special education. I am a licensed NYC teacher grades K-3 and I have an ESL license. My passion is to help people learnto read and speak English. When a child is struggling to read I feel it is important to not only connect to the child’s learning style but to help him/her gain confidence. I also work with adults and children who want to become more fluent in English. I am always so thrilled to see the progression. ESL lesson. I would totally recommend Sandy! She is always prepared and has several different materials that never make me bored. She also has a flexible teaching approach for each student; she knows how to make the class fun and interesting depends on the students needs and interests. What is your typical process for working with a new student?

When working with children I like to talk with them to put them at ease. I also explain exactly what we are going to be working on and how the lesson will be helpful to them. I also encourage the parent to stay if the child prefers it. With adults I like to ask questions so I can get to know a little about them and their country. This also gives me the opportunity to assess their English level

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have teaching for over 25 years grades k-3. I also taught English as a Second Language for 7 years.

When I work with adults I charge 45.00 an hour. When I work with children I charge 50.00 an hour.
