English And Latin Tutoring

I am a rising junior at Harvard College majoring in the Classics (specifically, Classical Languages and Literature). During my summer recess, I am hoping to tutor students in the humanities, including Latin. I have experience as an independent tutor and have worked with elementary, middle school, and high school students. I have a deep love of the humanities and am interested in finding ways to improve the current pedagogy so that students are increasingly encouraged to develop critical thinking skills and approach academics with creativity. I have full availability through August, and am a dedicated and punctual individual. I am happy to meet with students in-person or virtually. I have primarily helped my clients develop their expository writing and research skills. These skills include:

•Reading comprehension and literary analysis

•Structuring formal essays (creating an outline, developing a strong thesis statement, finding and incorporating textual evidence, etc.)

•Building bibliographies

•Selecting topics for individual research projects

•Approaching assignments with creativity and efficiency

•Developing smart study habits for optimal results

•I also tutor students in Latin (beginner, intermediate, or advanced).

I believe that learning is one of the most joyful experiences we can have, and that everyone should be entitled to partake in its rewards. I am happiest when I am helping fellow students find their voice through language studies, composition, and scholarship. I think individual learning is a powerful tool that allows pupils to fully grasp course material and develop personalized strategies to succeed in any discipline.
