About

I am a high school student that has a lot of experience tutoring elementary and middle school students. Many of my previous students have had a lot of success with their classes or goals that they have wanted to achieve. As far as my musical career I have been trained classically and in musical theatre. I have been in a choir for nine years and have performed around the world, as well as places like Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Singing is my passion and I love to help people learn it as beginners or help people who already sing get better at solo work. I also attend Stuyvesant High School in NYC, which is ranked #25 in the country. As a student I know how difficult it is to connect with your teachers or understand things from a textbook or if your teacher only explains it one way, and that understanding is what makes me so successful in helping my students understand things so easily.

I love helping other people understand things. As a student I know how difficult grasping concepts can be, and if I can help other students with that, that would be the greatest joy. I love both music and STEM, and being able to relay the little tips and tricks I'be learned from taking these classes is so fun. I love being able to see students use these skills to do well in their classes, on exams, or in auditions.

As a parent, I love working with Andrea as a tutor because she is very responsive and communicative. She’s also extremely patient with my son. She clearly enjoys and loves learning and sharing her knowledge with others and always has a positive disposition. My son worked with several other tutors before Andrea, and has excelled the most under Andrea’s tutelage. I would highly recommend her for your child as she is a delightful and extremely intelligent young woman/high school student.

Frequently asked questions

I like to get to know them and what they have liked and diskliked about previous teachers teaching habits. I like to figure out what they have current trouble with and what their goal for working with me is. If it's with younger students I like to incorporate small rewards for doing something. For example, playing a song they like at the end of a lesson or reading them a story. If it's with a music student I like to let them sing a song of their choice at least once every lesson to keep them engaged. Additionally, I like to be in touch with parents to maybe give better reward options such as a cookie or 10 extra minutes of TV time. I have found that rewarding students makes them more engaged and willing to learn.

I have tutored students younger than me since sixth grade. I am a student at Stuyvesant High School, one of the most selective high schools in NYC. I have been trained in solo voice for 10 years and have won numerous competitions for classical solo voice such as the Prima Volta competition where I won first place. I have also had solos with my chorus where I performed a solo at Carnegie Hall. As far as academics I have a 4.0 GPA , and have taken numerous honors and AP classes.
