About
Teaching is my greatest passion. I have been tutorng since I was 12 years old, when I began tutoring Algebra.
Later, as a high school math teacher and debate coach, my students achieved a 100% pass-rate on the New York state Regents exams, and were undefeated in their debate league.
In college, I studied Math, Finance, Economics, and Accounting. I graduated with a 3.95 GPA and am a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
After my teaching career, I began a corporate career in finance and accounting. My greatest successes have been when I have coached young professionals to develop their skills, so... I never really left teaching!
I have now left my full time corporate career and opened an independent business consulting firm. Now that my schedule is flexible, I am excited to once again pursue my greatest passion of all -- watching that "ah ha" light bulb turn on in a student's brain!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before formally engaging with a client, I speak with them (and the student, if they wish to join the discussion) to gain an in-depth understanding from them of the outcomes they seek from the tutoring process. Once I have that information, I can lay out a view of a customized plan for tutoring that accounts for the student's goals, strengths and weaknesses.
How did you get started teaching?
I helped my best friend through math class in middle school. He did so well that word got around and by 9th grade the parents of other classmates were paying me to prepare their kids for the New York state Regents exams! Not a bad gig for a 13 year old :)
What types of students have you worked with?
My students range from elementary school to graduate school. I have succeeded with students across the spectrum, from those struggling to just keep up with their peers (in some cases due to developmental and learning disabilities) to those who are ahead of the pack and seek enrichment to supplement the schoolwork that comes easily to them.
In addition to traditional academics, I have extensive test prep experience, including but not limited to SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT & GED. While many of my students have hit the 99th percentile on their tests and gone on to the nation's most pretigious high schools and universities, I have also successfully worked with many students whose goal was to attend a mid-level school and needed to boost their scores to solidify their application.
