I was raised as a student in special education, having ADD and generally having a dislike for school. I had one teacher who changed it all for me. I bring my 10+ years of experience in the special education field as well as a firm grip on social studies curricula. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I like to dive deep into what the student feels that are struggling in. Most of them time they feel they struggle with topics instead of skills. In the time I work with them I will be able to pinpoint where the student needs work. However, my approach is to meet the students where they are and help them grow with the skills they have to build a better foundation for skills they have yet to acquire.
