About
As a tutor, I often thrive off of seeing my students' grades increase, to the point that they themselves become surprised at their ability. The increase in self-confidence drives the student to become self-sufficient, and able to advance in courses they did not believe they would be able to. The advancement opens doors and opportunities they would not otherwise be able to reach. Additionally, tutoring provides students with a support system that they might otherwise be lacking, often seen in children with two working parents or overcrowded classrooms.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Prior to the first session, I establish the presence of any learning disabilities the student may have, and alter the method of teaching to fit that student. In addition, the student begins where they need to, even if that is a unit or two behind where they are now. The sciences and mathematics are courses which build on themselves; a strong foundation is required to ensure they will understand the current and future material. I provide my own practice problems and go over each with the student, as well as provide supplementary homework for us to go over by the next session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I recently graduated with a Bachelor in Science in Biology (a concentration in Cell and Molecular Biology) with a minor in Biochemistry from Hofstra University's Honors College. In addition, I was awarded the Advanced Regents Diploma in high school and was part of numerous honor societies.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
If you are interested in bulk pricing after or prior to our first session, there is a discount depending on the number of sessions you would like to purchase.
Group sessions are also available at a discounted rate, depending on the number of students.
The stated prices are subject to change if the individual has extenuating circumstances, all children deserve an education.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been tutoring since high school, starting off as community service for children in grades below myself. I continued throughout my college career, as well as obtaining 3 teaching assistant positions in the university.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have generally worked with high school and college students, with a handful of elementary and middle school students. I typically choose a traditional approach when teaching, however, if the student requires a method which allows them to understand the material better due to a learning disability, I have worked with students like this before.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Hire a teacher who is passionate about what they are teaching, who provides you with supplemental work, and teaches you in a way that you understand.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. Do you have any learning struggles? (Learning disability, access to technology)
2. Are you behind? Or on track but not understanding the current material?
3. When is your next exam?
